Frequently Asked Questions

No! Plant based foods are so diverse and can be so flavorful and filling. Although salads are good, I also frequently eat lasagna with tofu ricotta, teriyaki stir fry (with plant-based steak), enchiladas with plant-based cheese, BLT sandwiches made from tofu, and so much more. There are SO many delicious and filling ways to eat plants that you will never feel deprived or hungry. It’s definitely a big shift in your thinking, but it’s worth it.

No! It’s a massive change to give up all meat and dairy. If you want to cut back on the amount of meat and dairy you’re eating and learn how to add more fruits, vegetables, and healthy grains to your diet, you can definitely learn that here. You can also learn how to tweak many of your favorite recipes to be much healthier and include plants instead of meat. For example, I moved from making lasagna with ground beef and a ridiculous amount of cheese to using mushrooms and a ground beef substitute and tofu ricotta cheese. I’m not joking when I say it tastes just as good. But there is never any pressure for you to totally give up meat and dairy.

Plant-based is a way of eating that focuses on eating as many plants and whole grains as possible. Vegan is more a whole lifestyle of not eating plants, but also not using animal products like leather.

No. I try to only eat a whole food plant based diet at home, but my husband eats meat and sometimes I will eat some cheese he has in the fridge. Cheese is my weakness. Also when I go out to eat, I am flexible because it’s really difficult to find healthy plant-based foods not loaded with refined carbs at restaurants. I’d rather eat some fish with a salad than a big bowl of pasta. I guess you can call me a flexitarian. I find that being too strict with what you eat introduces a lot of unnecessary anxiety. However, I never eat chicken, beef, pork, or anything like that. You can find out why in my bio.

It’s a funny thing, but when you stop eating meat, you replace it with something. Many beginning plant-based eaters will replace meat with something like pasta, or bread, or highly refined foods that have lots of refined carbs. That’s not a healthy replacement. I know, because that’s what I did when I first gave up meat. I ate so many refined carbs that I felt tired all the time. I’m sure I wasn’t getting enough protein. I teach you how to choose healthy choices to replace meat as well as how to add more healthy foods to whatever you’re currently eating.

Moving to a plant-based diet can be a challenge, especially because there are very few healthy packaged items you can get at the store.
